Professional Summary

 

 Randy and his wife Carolyn have retired and live on a five acres ranch near Placerville California. Randy is the chief docents at the local observatory and Carolyn is part owner of a local yarn shop. They both love to travel and spend six to ten weeks per year traveling. They usually travel in their truck and camp in a tent. Destinations have included most of the states and 28 of the National Parks.

• Western Governors University – Master of Arts Geoscience Education 

• University of California, Santa Barbara – Earned four teaching credentials

• Pepperdine University – BA – Dual major in Rhetoric and Public Address and Oral Interpretation of Literature, Minor in Environmental Science

• Lifetime California Secondary Teaching Credentials in English and Speech Communication, Single Subject Credentials in Mathematics and Physical Science

Teaching Experience

​

• Fifteen years of teaching on the high school and college level in the 1970s and 80's

• Four and one half years as an adjunct professor at William Jessup University teaching Astronomy and Physical Geography.

• Lead docent at the Placerville Community Observatory

Other Experience

​

• Volunteer mentor, board member, and president of Silver State Young Chautauqua. The organization trains 8-18 year-olds to personify historical figures. 

• Randy and Carolyn administer our church's library

• Former owner of Friendly Computers of Reno – We provided computer and IT support for small businesses and individuals
